About the Society

The Hailsham Photographic Society's season runs from September to May, when we meet on Thursdays at the The Village Hall North Street Hellingly, Hailsham East Sussex BN27 4DS, just off the A 267 [see map]. The meetings commence at 7.45 and finish between 9.30-10.00 with a refreshment break mid way. During the summer months outings and walks are arranged.

Meetings consist of lectures by visiting speakers as well as our own members, competitions, workshops and battles with other clubs (see programme for further details).
The monthly competition evenings are for either slides and digital images, where there are no separate levels or prints (digital or silver) which are separated into beginners, intermediate and advanced level. The subject matter is open.
There are also some specific competitions throughout the season for landscape, natural history, set subjects and panels of pictures.
The competition entries are appraised by outside judges as well as our own members.

One of the greatest benefits of the society is being able to share thoughts, technical problems and photographic experiences with people of a like mind especially in our discussion evenings. There are, however, always members who are willing to help you through a photographic difficulty or maybe you have a particular skill you are willing to share with us.

We are affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PABG) through the Surrey Photographic Association (SPA) and compete in the Sussex Slide & Print Conventions organised by the Sussex Photographic Federation.

The society annually produces an audio- visual show for the public. The Hailsham Photographic Society Colour Show is held at the Hailsham Community Centre in March each year and encourages members to produce sequences set to music with help from the A-V team. There is also an exhibition of the Member's work in August. Our shows are very well supported and help us to raise funds and make donations to many local charities.

Membership Subscription. Current rates are: singles £21 pa., couples £30 pa.
