KEITH DONALD SHIELD
Prints Development) - Changed from Intermediate 2018/2019
Keith Donald wrote in 1998…. As soon as a film became available in 1945 I bought one and borrowed my mother's folding Brownie camera and took some photographs of the re-opening of Shoreham airport and in 1946 the first flying display at the airport. A dodgy view-finder and leaking bellows forced me to buy a camera of my own - an Ensign Selfix (120). In 1953 a 1938 little used Leica 111A was purchased for £65 and the Summor lens re-cemented for £2. An enlarger was necessary to produce postcard and whole plate prints. In 1969 some colleagues at Hailsham Council introduced me to the HPS and a year later I became print leader and in my first full season I gathered the beginners cups for both prints and slides. It was a rude awakening to compete in the advanced print section and I felt that there should be a stepping stone - hence the Intermediate Class for which I presented a shield |
